Climbing 14rs

Here I am on the way down from Mnt. Lincoln.
Fourteeners is a name for a mountain that is over 14,000 feet high. There are 53 14rs in Colorado alone. My dad and I plan to hike all of them over the next two years. Some of them will be more challenging then others due many variables. We have already hiked 4 four. To hike some of them in the winter you need crampons which are basically spikes strapped to your feet. And many more things to do it safely. Such as a GPS, really warm boots, backpack, and the list could go on and on. We love hiking and it is great way to get out and relax and see the beauty of nature all around us.

Results of My First 5k

I did it my first 5k! I did it in 25 minutes. Which is about an 8 minute mile. I am still training and I am going to do another one next month. We arrived at the race at about 7:30 a.m. more than two hours early for parking but we didn't need to and will not do it again. We signed up. And to be timed you have to zip tie a  little tracker to your shoe. After waiting around for what seamed like forever the race started. It was crazy with almost 3000 people racing. I pushed myself really hard and finished 490 something. I had a blast and will definitely be doing more in the future.

The Call of Duty Franchise

If you didn't already know I love to play games on my xbox. One of my favorite game series has been Call of Duty. They have released eight games so far. The newest one recently released, Call of Duty Modern Warfare Three made over 400 million dollars in the first 24 hours and 775 million in the first five days. Breaking records for all types of media. And selling 3 billion dollars worth of games as of November of 2009. Call of duty was created by Ben Chichocki. And the first release was in 2003. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_of_Duty

Running a 5k

I like running so a couple of weeks ago I decided to run a 5k on Thanksgiving. A 5k is only 3.1 miles which makes it a good run for beginners like me. I knew since I have never run before that I would have to train. So every day I run and do wieghts. I have been trying to eat healthier and drink lots of water. The event is put on by the YMCA and all the money goes to charity. So you can have fun and help out the community at the same time. I'll post an update of how it went after the race. http://ppymca.org/turkeytrot

Starting A Business

My brother and I decided to start a snow shoveling business. He come up with the name Penguin Snow Removal. We made some flyer's and put them in our neighborhood. It didn't snow enough yet. But our neighbor who is about move away saw the flyer and asked if wanted there snow blower.

Even though it is older its alot better than using a shovel.
We are waiting for the next snow to be able to use it and hopefully make little money.

Some Cool Pictures From Breckinridge

Karsten trying to act cool.

This fox kept coming up to our back porch and begging for food.

This picture was taken later at night with a longer shutter speed. To let more light in the picture.

Going For a Drive in the Woods

It snowed a couple of days ago. So my brother, dad and I decided we would go on an 17 mile old dirt road. The road had snow and ice most of the way which just made it more fun. These pictures were taken right before the end.  On the way down we passed someone whose car had turned sideways. My dad asked if we could help him. The guy said if he didn't mind that he worked for overhead door. We tried to help him but couldn't. But he was fine since his dad was on the way.
